WiPP is a multi-talented group of women with a wide range of publishing skills, from writing and editing to marketing, publicity, and graphic design.

Our mission statement:
We are Women in Portland Publishing: editors, writers, graphic designers, marketing and publicity professionals, small publishers, and aspiring students of the trade. We are spirited, creative, multi-talented, and resourceful, using our collective skills and Web site to support each other while uniting the local publishing scene. We also strive to serve the greater Portland community, assisting those in need and coming full circle to present the endless benefits that come from working together.

Our group aspires to provide:
  • 24-hour support to our sisters in Portland publishing via our close-knit member community
  • Daily maintenance of a public Web site serving the local publishing community as a job, event, news, and networking resource
  • Community outreach projects, with 75% devoted to women and literacy and 25% devoted to outside causes
  • Monthly member socials (women only)
  • Quarterly seminars relating to the industry, particularly issues affecting women in the local publishing community today
  • Biannual public networking events in April and September
  • An annual scholarship of $1,000 to an aspiring local woman of the trade
